Term 4 week 3
What an exciting start to the term with 3 new children in Tawa class. Madison has joined us from Parkview School and Trelise and Arthur have turned 5. We are eagerly watching our tadpoles waiting for them to grow some legs. We have many questions we want answers to so have to observe them closely in find out our answers. Our potatoes plants are growing beautifully and we have planted sunflowers and beans as part of our life cycles unit.

Our creations
The children have been busy all week designing, building and creating a corner that reflects our learning.
We have had a fun filled last week of term with lots of collaboration and team work.
The children love to lie and read under the drooping vines of the amazon and gaze amongst the crazy deep sea creatures......

Life Education
Harold the Giraffe came to visit Broomfield Schol this week.
Tawa learnt about our bodies. We learnt that we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. We saw that the oxygen goes into our lungs then into the blood and gives us energy. We also learnt we breath out carbon dioxide and the plants use it.
Tawa learnt about smog and smoke and how they are not good for our lungs.
We loved seeing Harrold and hearing his special messages.

Deep sea exploration.
This week Tawa explored the deep dark ocean. After reading Tiddler and watching a you tube clip we pretended to dive deep down in a submersible and explore. We drew what we saw and brainstormed what we'd like to explore next.

Traveling Tawa
Tawa children have been visiting places all around the world over the past few weeks. As part of our 'There is no where left in the world left to Explore' unit we have been emerging the children in lots of experiences from different destinations. They have explored Antarctica, the Amazon, Africa, and this week we will dive deep down into the dark ocean.
For art we are experimenting with printmaking and have been rubbing, rolling and sketching out our designs. Watch this space for our final results!
This term we welcome Mitchell, and Castro into Tawa. On Monday Leith turns 5 so he too will join the team.
