Sketching week 5

We have learnt so much about sketching this term.  The children have been making a variety of marks with their pencils and practicing using light and dark lines.
Today we observed a bird and broke it down into shapes.  Step by step the children joined basic shapes using very light sketchy lines. Slowly the added detail and shading.
The Tawa children were delighted with their final pieces.  So was I!

Term 1

What a great start to the year. We have 10 awesome children who are all enthusiastic and so keen to learn. We have begun the year concentrating on belonging.  Today we read about Elmer the elephant and learnt how it's great to be different.  We thought of many ways we are all different and unique.
We then looked at Elmer's patterns and tried to sponge paint our own Elmer's.
The children had great fun today dressing up into spooky clothes for Friday the 13 th.  Some children were so spooky I didn't even recognise them!
